Scene: A White Room

The window is open to let in the fresh breeze that carries in the soft patter of a slow rain on the plants outside. A girl sits, reading small type of torrid affairs between young soft women and brawny men, slowly dissolving into a puddle of the here and now after a day of constant caffeine high. She said she was going to work more, but instead she reads; glancing out the window occasionally into a opaque black night of white noise. Now her ears imbibe a soft melancholy piano--she can only describe it as sympathetic to her cause--with a rhythm that blends easily with the rain outside. Appreciating the unexpected combination the girl smiles at the subtle achievement in natural beauty. Inwardly, she smiles in appreciation that her life has arrived at the point of being able to smile when no one was there to see it.
